Double or Nothing – Better Your Odds

Double or nothing poker, also called sit-and-go, is a relatively new version of poker, where the winning players receive double what they paid to play. The losing players receive nothing. While this has been pretty traditional for poker for centuries, with players going double or nothing to make things more interesting, double or nothing poker has a variation from what a person normally associates with the traditional term.

Double or nothing poker is usually played at a table or tables separate from the regular poker tables, both when you play in a casino and online. Typically a table will have ten players , each player revealing how much they are betting at the beginning before the cards are dealt. At the end of the deal, exactly half of the players have lost all of the money they played at the start. They receive the nothing the name describes.  The five winners receive double what they played to join the game. Depending on the type of play, especially during tournaments, there can be more players. No matter the number of players, half are always losers and the other half of the players are winners.

With these new rules, it is easy to see what makes double or nothing poker so appealing. You have a fifty percent chance of winning, and if you do, you will double what you brought to the table. For those familiar with gambling, and even those who are less familiar, the presented odds are absolutely outstanding and a rather large pay out for those odds. When you consider the odds of winning most games, like the lottery, it is very understandable how a person can decide to try to double that dollar multiple times over instead of plunking it down for a ticket. The player also gets a bit more entertainment for the experience.
